Business Development Officer and Contracts Manager Director of Studies – Engineering and Construction Flexible
Main Purpose of Post
To promote the training provision for Marine and Motor Vehicle industry sectors. Coordinate and organise courses utilising full cost and other relevant funding streams. In conjunction with College requirements, monitoring and reporting on progress and develop flexible strategies to ensure City College meets the training needs for marine and motor vehicle provisions. To manage delivery partners caseload across a variety funded programmes (e.g. ESF, subcontracted, training provider, Apprenticeships) in regional, national and international locations. To manage the contract management of sub contracted provision for the college ensuring contracts and SLAs are in-line with College and funding bodies procedures.
Tasks
– To generate and increase sales in line with City College Group targets and as agreed with the Director of Studies including:
– LSC Apprenticeship starts o Short course starts
– Long course starts
– New employer contacts and vacancies
– Raising of City College profile
Work closely with colleagues for the promotion of City College services using appropriate funding streams including full cost provision
Improve & expand provision quality in the marine & motor vehicle sectors and to ensure that it meets industry needs through consistent employer engagement
Advise on future curriculum including short course topics relevant to industry needs
Work with delivery partners to refine procedures for dealing with initial enquiries through to programme delivery including a method for generating accurate employer feedback and a system for referral between delivery partners
Ensure close linkage with and between like organisations is maintained and establish memberships on various sector monitoring groups, regularly disseminating City College provision, activities and successes to the relevant forums
Ensure the maintenance of the parts of the college website, its relevance and links to all partners and other organisations
Work with partner organisations to create a register of specialist providers
Carry out direct marketing and sales activities, so as to maintain and develop sales, to customers in the Southampton and surrounding areas. Liaise closely with the marketing department at City College on internal and external communication to maximise advertising and promotional potential
Contribute and develop ideas for direct marketing to new customers in line with the City College Group Business Plan
Develop new and existing partners to ensure relevant capacity is readily available to deliver and achieve new contracts
Through the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information as determined by the Director of Studies
Contract manage delivery partners in line with funding guidance, ensuring contracts and SLAs meet in line with both College and funding bodies procedures.
Ensure partners are managed against agreed financial profiles with under / over performance being proactively managed, implementing and managing improvement plans where necessary
Prepare for robust audits of partners in-line with national guidance (e.g. SFA, ESF, DWP. Maintain accurate statistical and financial data, reports and records as required by management and external agencies
Liaise with local and national agencies to identify and develop new project opportunities
Collaborate with special projects and bidding to search for additional funded projects
Provision and maintenance of relevant statistical data for use in the strategic and development planning process. Where required research and produce written reports for senior management team and the governors
Adopt a professional approach at all times and ensure all areas of personal activity comply with standards laid down by the City College Group and relevant outside agencies
To participate and sometimes project manage, events undertaken by the City College Group and promote all activities, as required. This will include working some evenings and at different locations
Participate in the College Individual Professional Review process. Evaluate and develop own and team practice
